Romania - Day Three
My favorite day! Let's begin.
We started off the day with a short tour of a museum exhibiting traditional life of the village we were currently staying in, Toroscko. As it was a mining town, much of the museum was centered around the tools and methods used. Below is a display of old, traditional wedding garb for both men and women.
Then we took a tour of the village itself. Standing in the center is a brand-new Romanian Orthodox church, but as the town is predominantly Hungarian, it remains unused.
Then we visited what is supposedly, the "best water in the world"
But these people have clearly never visited Oregon.
The village rests next to a summit called Szekelyko which we had the chance to climb.
Apologies for the poor picture quality.
Apparently, there was a path that we were supposed to follow, but a couple of us just ended up scaling straight up the side of it. Whoops.
And since I couldn't figure out how to take a panorama, the next three photos pan the view from the top moving left to right.
I see this and think Monty Python and the Holy Grail. But that's just me
From the fortress you can see another mountain, playfully dubbed the Sleeping Giant.
The last stop for the day took place at Gyulafehrvar, at one time the official capital of Transylvania and is the seat of the Roman Catholic archbishop for Romania.
Remains of the old city wall
And for dinner, more doughnuts!

This day was jam packed with sightseeing, hiking and exploring and definitely my favorite. Overall it was a great trip. I love getting out of the city and seeing parts of the world I would never see on my own. This weekend I'm off to Serbia so expect lots of pictures from more mountains!
Thanks for reading!
