Lions And Tigers And Bears Oh My!

Alright, I'm making up for the last post, with tons of pictures on this one. There won't be a lot of narration on this one, so let me just give a sum-up. Today, Valarie and I went and explored the City Park next to Hero's square which is a very famous, big tourist spot to stop. The park is massive, and feels like it stretches on for ever. There's a festival, a castle, a circus and bath house and a zoo all in the parks boundaries. It was quite the day of exploration.

We spent the first half just wandering around the park. The second half...Well, we made the spontaneous decision to go to the zoo! And it was glorious. Ahhh I love the zoo! Get ready for animal overload! So if you don't like animals, why are you reading my blog anyways? Let's begin!

My disclaimer for this next section: I love tigers. They are majestic creatures of gloriousness. So I took more than a few pictures and since I couldn't decide which ones I wanted to put up, I'm putting them all up. They're not the best quality, but they're freaking TIGERS. Love them or leave :) These two in particular were incredibly playful today which was a treat to watch.

 And they even had a dinosaur exhibit, so there was something for everyone at the zoo. I was quite pleased, and fairly impressed with the number species this zoo had.

What a successful adventure! Sunshine, a park and a zoo. All in a days work. I consider that a pretty fantastic list of activities. The zoo was absolutely a blast. It was much appreciated, and now that I know where it is, I may cave and go again - but we'll see. Thanks for listening guys! Hoped you loved the pictures!

Melaka Food Tour

Today was a tasty day. We toured Melaka (Melakka, Malacca), a Portuguese settlement established in the 1600's, and did so via food, which I think is the best way to take a tour. So let's begin! Ruth, a cousin, took it upon herself to be our tour guide around Malacca. The day was sunny and warm, and we saw (and ate) all the sites to behold. For breakfast we had sticky rice with caramelized watermelon and pork. It was alright, but compared to some of the other food we tried throughout the day, it didn't really stand out. A Day in Pecs

Yesterday I spent the day in Pecs, Hungary with Charlotte. It was nice, relaxing day, though the weather could have been a little better. Let's see, to start we visited a cute park: Then we visited a building that used to be a post office, but the highlight of the building is the beautiful roof, recommended for us to see by Charlotte's mother. Then we walked down the Citrom, or "Lemon" Street Another pretty roof :) The square of the synagogue Pecs has a famous porcelain exhibit and is known for the awesomely cool looking green porcelain In the main square there was  huge horse statue! It was a part of some exhibit or another, but we thought it was just interesting to have a massive horse statue sitting off center in the main square. Although my six weeks as a volunteer is over, the fun isn't. My family is visiting for another week, which means the adventures can continue! To kick it off, Connor and mom expedited themselves out to Caye Caulker to get jump start on our diving. They had already been in Belize city for a few days prior, along with my aunt, uncle and dad. Reunion! Look how tan I am I had booked a hostel room for the night, since I had packed up and left base camp, and while I could sleep in it comfortably, with the three of us, it was cozy. Its not a shed, its my room But it did the job. I showed them around a small part of the island to find food before heading off to bed. The next morning I introduced them to fry-jacks, aka best food ever invented on earth. If you're hip to mennonite cuisine, it was like a kroler, but savory, and filled with cheese and eggs and chicken. And oh my gosh yum. Plus they only cost 2$, so I couldn't say no.
