WITWINS: Christmas Edition

Image
As it's the Christmas season, I feel it's only fair I share some of Budapest's holiday spirit with all of you. So without further delay, welcome to Where in the World is Natalie Suderman: Christmas edition. Note: This post is dedicated to Hannah Carey. If you are not Hannah Carey, well then that's a bonus. Here we go! To start we've got the lights at Oktogon: Next, the Christmas stalls of Deak Ferenc Ter, and Vorosmarty Ter. I've done more than my fair share of browsing these stalls. There's so much to see and smell and marvel at! Our first sighting of a Christmas tree Next, there's the market at St. Istvan's Basilica. This one is the closest one to where I live, which is only a block away.  It's also got the best smelling food. And here's my street being festive! Even the mall dressed up, Those are coke cans btw I hope you enjoyed...

Wednesday Family Dinner

Image
Hey guys, sorry it's been so long since I've posted. But let's get to it. Neal, Jonathon, Maia, Valarie and I formed a sort of dinner group tradition. To start, the second week I joined (Maia and Jon and Neal had cooked the week before that) we made bean casserole. It had this amazing filling that none of us have successfully re-created since, but it smelled divine: I had to put this one in here :) There's the...

Crazy Communism Tour!

Image
Our (intended) last day in Krakow was spent in chocolate shops and riding in tiny Communist cars. Charlotte, Valarie, Neal and I spent our morning free time looking for chocolate and other goodies. The chocolate shop we ended up in was kind of an accident, but the chocolate was fabulous and they had all flavors and shapes and sizes. Including a full chocolate replica of the church. We also browsed the shops for cool souvenirs. I think most of the girls came away from this trip sporting some kind of amber jewelry. It was everywhere! Then we found the cupcake shop Charlotte was raving about. Personally, I was more intrigued by the post-it-notes on the wall, and added my own memo to the collection. 10 points if you guess which one is mine We're so cute! - artwork by Charlotte We're not nearly as cute in real life Then we hung out with the pigeons, cause they were hard to avoid. Several of us fed them, though Charlotte was getting the run...
